Raffaele Puppio Attorney Kalani Linnell, Esq. Presents "The Intersection of Title IX and Special Education"

MEDIA, PA - Associate Kalani Linnell was honored to present at the National School Boards Association/Council of School Attorneys annual conference in Orlando in March 2023. Attorneys from around the country learned about “The Intersection of Title IX and Special Education” which is highly relevant as the Title IX regulations have recently changed and will be overhauled again this year. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, on school and college campuses. The presentation helped guide school attorneys in making student-centered decisions when students with disabilities are involved in the Title IX process.

Title IX is a federal law that requires schools and colleges to prevent and respond to sexual discrimination. Sex discrimination includes bullying and harassment on the basis of sex, protections for pregnant and parenting students, athletics rules, and sexual assault when the school or college knows about the discriminatory behavior and does not appropriately respond. Schools and colleges appoint a Title IX Coordinator who oversees the educational response to reports of Title IX sexual harassment and discrimination.
